Butterflies represent transformation, beauty, and hope . . .  and that’s what The 10,000  Butterflies Project is all about.

We are living in extraordinarily challenging times. People seem to be more and more divided, digging in to their beliefs and closing themselves off to everything else. Tension, hostility, fear, even hatred with “us v. them” mentality takes center stage way too often.

Here’s the thing. . . It’s going to take cooperation and collaboration across our political, racial, ethnic, religious, regional, and social status divides for positive change to happen. And that’s why The 10,000 Butterflies Project was born . . . to inspire people to go after their dreams. To work together on what really matters. To make their lives count.

Transformation . . . begins with understanding that every one of us has the power to create positive change.

It starts with living our values, not just giving them lip service.

Standing up for what’s right and speaking out for those who have no voice.

Deciding that “us versus them” thinking hurts everyone.

Beauty . . . celebrates what connects us in our humanity instead of what divides us.

It means that we all become stronger by including everyone in the circle, even those who don’t look or believe just like us.

And understanding that kindness, compassion, and respect are essential to creating a better future for all.

Hope . . .  starts with finding common ground and working together to solve problems.

Building stronger communities.

Lifting up others as well as ourselves.

Making sure that no one feels invisible or powerless.

Finding ways to help people and our planet thrive.

Instead of blaming, shaming, or waiting for someone else to lead the way, hope blossoms when we decide to use our voices and actions to make a difference.

How do you want to make a difference?

What do you stand for?

How do you want to show up in the world?

What do you stand against?

The 10,000 Butterflies Project is rooted in my unwavering belief that most of us want to make a positive difference in our little corner of the world.  We want to know that to someone, somewhere, our lives mattered. That what we did with our precious time here made a difference and that our actions left the world a better place. Sadly, too many of us believe that making our lives count means doing something really BIG, that our small actions don’t count for much. Nothing could be further from the truth!

Everybody matters.

Every action matters.

Like a pebble tossed into a still pond, every action creates a ripple effect that reaches farther and farther out.

Even the tiniest act has the power to transform lives.
